Keep Automation Agile

In Agile, product owners, developers and QA people work as team on the same items. To make it all work tests need be comprehensive and automated. However, if it isn’t finished in a Sprint, the QA effort will fall behind. This will make cooperation with the other disciplines in the next sprint harder, and as a result QA may fall behind even more. Having to catch up on test automation of a previous sprint is sometimes known as “Sprint + 1”, and it can undermine the timeliness and quality of both the tests and their automation.

This session talks about getting the tests and their automation “done” in time, thus keeping the QA efforts in sync with rest of the project. It will show how keyword-driven and BDD-driven modular test design can form a solid basis, and how all in the team can cooperate to achieve a high quality and timely result.

Session Takeaways:

  • Keep the QA efforts in sync with their fellow team members.
  • Get more tests created and automated.
  • Use BDD and keywords together.
  • How to best cooperate with the other disciplines, like development product ownership.
