Testing software is hard. Not having an effective test data management strategy makes it even harder. For too often QA is left guessing whether the data they are seeing in their testing environment is correct. This can lead to QA failing tests that should pass or even worse, missing obvious data related issues.
In this session we will discuss test data management strategies. First, we will talk about what a test data management strategy is. Than we will outlining some common strategies. Later on, we will explore these strategies and where they make sense. Finally, we will talk about limitations and why test data management can only take you so far.
